MERCER, Charles Clayton

MERCER, Charles Clayton “Chuck”, 57 of Armstrongs Mills, Ohio died Friday, February 8, 2013 at his home after a long hard fought battle with cancer.

He was born January 24, 1956 in Wheeling, WV.

Chuck was a coalminer at Consolidation Coal Company’s McElroy Mine and a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Powhatan Point.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles L. Mercer, Jr.

Surviving are his loving wife, Diana Haught Mercer; two children, Shane Mercer of the home and Nicole (Christopher) Burghy of Bethesda; his mother and stepfather, Alma Cottle McCarthy and Glen McCarthy, Sr. of Obetz, Ohio; sisters, Dorothy McCarthy of Obetz, Tammy Shreve of Ravenna, Ohio and Judy Hupp of Columbus; a brother, Glen McCarthy, Jr. of Denver, CO.; grandpuppy, Beau.

Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in Jacobsburg on Monday from 5-8 p.m. where services will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.

Burial follows in Armstrong Cemetery, Armstrongs Mills.
