UL bowlers headed to district

The Union Local Lady Jets bowling squad will be the first team to go to the district tournament as a whole team.

After coming back from last place last year to third place this year, the Lady Jets will be traveling to Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe on Feb.22nd for the District Tournament.

UL Coach Katie Fischerkeller remarked: “These girls deserve a huge win. They have been practicing hard six days a week since November and have come a long way.

“I had 12 female bowlers who came out this year and I was a little nervous when only two of them have ever bowled before. But, I could not be more proud of these girls and the hard work and dedication they put into the sport.”

The Lady Jets bowled a total series of 3229. Leading the Lady Jets was sophomore Madie Schafer with a 540 Series, Senior Megan Stull added a 497, and Senior, Casie Kyer contributed with a 451. Zanesville won the sectional tournament with a 3731 series and Minerva came in second with a 3566.

Bridgeport’s Peyton Stewart and Alexis Willis will also be traveling to Shawnee Lanes with the Lady Jets to compete in the District’s Individual Competition. Peyton Stewart came in first in the Sectional Tournament with a 578 series and Alexis Willis came in third with a 497 series.
