SPARACHANE, Anthony “UNDO,” 92, of Benwood, WV, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Wheeling Hospital.

He was born December 27, 1920 in Isola Del Liri, Italy, a son of the late Nicholas and Maria Pisano Sparachane.

Undo was the owner of Undo’s Famiglia Ristorante, which he founded in 1953 with the Flamingo Club, with locations now in Benwood, Weirton, St. Clairsville and Elm Grove, and was known for greeting customers with a glass of wine.

Undo was a graduate of Union High School, retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 34 years, a member of the American Legion Blake Brothers Post #46, an avid WVU fan, a Marine veteran of WWII where he served three campaigns in the South Pacific, and also served as an honor guard for President Roosevelt.

Undo took great pleasure in welcoming children to Undo’s with a Reese Cup and was a loyal supporter of local community organizations and a proud sponsor of the Miracle League Field Project.

In addition to his parents, Undo was preceded in death by his wife, Jenny Shiretta Sparachane on July 22, 1988; three sisters, Ann Church, Stella Burch, Elvira Corvino; and a brother, Joseph DeCasper.

Surviving are his four children, Nick A. Sparachane and his wife Patti of Wheeling, Anthony T. “Herk” Sparachane of McMechen, Janice Zelewicz of Benwood, Joyce LaRue and her husband Raymond of Wheeling; 10 grandchildren; Gigi, Jamie, Nicole, Robin, Lauren, Nick, Angela, Jennifer, Megan, and Chelsea, and also three great- grandchildren; Raeghan, Tatum and Colin.

Friends will be received on Saturday, April 13, from 4-8 p.m. and on Sunday, April 14 from 2-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood- McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, WV.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, with Father Bekah Utietiang as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full military graveside honors.

Vigil services will be held on Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
