Elks Junior Tournament set for June 11 at Wheeling CC

Wheeling Elks Lodge 28 is sponsoring a Junior Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 11 at Wheeling Country Club Golf Course. Entries must be received by 6 p.m. on June 7. Registration is at 1 p.m. on the day of the tournament. Tee times begin at 2 p.m.. There is no entry fee. The divisions are as follows: Boys & Girls Age 10-13, will play 9 holes only. Boys & Girls 14-15 will play18 holes. Boys & Girls 16-18 (Cannot be 19 before August 1, 2013) will play 18 holes. Trophies will be presented for winner & runner up in each age division, with a four player minimum for each division. Overall low 18-hole score boy & girl will represent the Wheeling Elks Lodge at the Tournament of Champions at Seven Springs Resort with all expenses paid. Gary Mayberry had the closest to the pin and Merel Stevens had closest to the pin on second shot in the Senacaville Senior League play. The low gross went to Strayoff/Mayberry with rounds of 36. Low net went to Koegler/Robinson with a 37.


The Robinson Automotive Group outing was held on May 15. David Coram prevailed in the medal division with a round of 33. Bob Green was second with a 35.

In the handicap portion of the event, Jim Ennis prevailed by a shot over Terry Younkins. Ennis fired a round of 31.

The Orie and Mechelle Robinson 3-man scramble was held on May 19. The trio of Robinson, Coram and Wensel prevailed with a score of 145. The team of Lightner, Bommer and Mercer also posted a 145 and finished second by virtue of a tie breaker.

The trio of Colley, P. Carney and R. Carney was victorious in the handicap division. It shot a 136. Green, Ennis and McLaughlin fired a 145 to finish second.


The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department 4-man golf scramble will be held on Saturday, June 15 at Castle-Shannon Golf Course. The event costs $260 per team and the entry fee includes golf, cart, skins, food, drink, door prizes and contests. Lunch will be provided on the turn and dinner will be provided following the round. THE LARRY LOEW Hilltopper Golf Scramble, which benefits the West Liberty football program, is set for Monday, June 24 at the Arnold Palmer Golf Course at Oglebay Park. The event will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Registration begins at 11 a..m. Along with the golf and lunch players will receive a special gift, dinner at the conclusion and several special contests will take place during the event.

THE WHEELING Park golf scramble will be held on Friday, June 14 at Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg. Teams can be entered for $70 per player, which includes golf, cart, beverages and dinner after the round. The golf tournament benefits all of Wheeling Park athletics. The deadline to enter a team of June 5.

The Bellaire Sons of Italy is hosting its 14th annual golf scramble to benefit Alzheimers & Cooley’s Anemia Charities on Monday, June 10. The event will be held at the Crispin Golf Course at Oglebay Park with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $200 for a four-man team. Cost includes golf, cart, refreshments on the course and dinner at the Haller Shelter following the round. The top three teams will receive prize money. The Amanda Rosepapa Memorial Benefit golf scramble, sponsored by the Glencoe American Legion Post 632, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10 at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course in Armstrong Mills. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and the entry fee is $200 per team. The price includes golf, cart, beverages, lunch and a steak fry after the round. The Bellaire Touchdown Club will be sponsoring its annual golf outing on June 29 at the Fairway River Links. The cost of the scramble is $60 per person or $240 per four man team. The cost includes carts, fees, lunch and beverages during the scramble and a dinner of chicken or ribs after wards. THE THIRD annual Tom Donahue Memorial Classic Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, July 13 at Horseshoe Bend Golf Course. The entry fee is $50 per person or $200 per team. The cost includes green fees, food, refreshments, prizes and door prizes. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and the field is limited to 72 golfers. THE WHEELING JESUIT Cardinal Athletic Club’s 24th annual Golf Scramble is set for Thursday, June 6 at Oglebay’s Palmer Course. The event is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Lunch and dinner are provided Dinner at the Elm Grove Undo’s immediately following the scramble. In addition, Lyle’s Auto will be sponsoring hole-in-one prizes which includes a car.
