Woodsfield may add new building, two ball fields

WOODSFIELD – A new building and two new new ball fields were proposed during this week’s meeting of Woodsfield Village Council.

David Kuhn of the Monroe County Emergency Medical Services Association asked permission for the association to erect a storage building on the left side of the EMS building. It would measure approximately 24 by 30 feet and would be a garage-type building.

Council had no objection to the construction of the building, but pointed out the need to check first about the sewer and utility lines.

Tim Winland noted he would like to build two ball fields on property owned by the village near the Woodsfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Assisted Living facility. Officials had no objections about the fields but recommended he talk to the center representatives and Dominion Gas, which has an easement and right-of-way in that area.

A Center Street resident reported on a drainage problem, noting there was water in his basement. Village Administrator Rick Schuerman said work had begun Monday to find the problem.

Officials decided trick or treat will be Oct. 31 from 5:30-7 p.m. with a parade at 7:30.

An executive session, requested by Solicitor Bill Frank, concerned litigation with no action to be taken.
