St. John, Shadyside girls both upended

Despite a 6-of-22 showing at the foul line, invading Steubenville Central headed back to Jefferson County with a 42-37 victory against St. John Central Wednesday evening.

The Lady Crusaders were led by Micca Mirabella’s 13 points and Lauren Hunt’s nine.

St. John Central, which is now 1-2 on the season, was paced by sophomore ace Marissa Rose, who poured in 23 points.

University 91, Shadyside 20

It was quite a debut for University High Wednesday evening. It knocked home 10 3-point goals and rolled to a 91-20 romp over Shadyside.

The Lady Tigers, who are now 1-2 and will visit Frontier Saturday afternoon, were led by Kenzie Fielding’s 10 points and Toni Andes’ seven.
