New auto dealer breaking the mold

BRIDGEPORT A new auto dealer in Bridgeport is challenging the conception of what it means to buy a used car. Tristate Auto Group, located at 6 Cadiz Pike Rd. in Bridgeport, is somewhere to keep an eye on if you are in the market for an automobile.

Tristate acquired its dealer’s license in February of this year and is currently stocking up on quality used vehicles. For the last few months, the business has been getting everything up to code in the State of Ohio, which can be an extensive process, explained Manager Chad Anthony.

“It’s time consuming” he said, “not to mention the licensing process, but getting everything up to code with the State of Ohio. It just takes a little time to get everything together. It’s been about a four or five month process from when we got our lease until where we are right now.”

The process is moving along, and Tristate plans to soon have a full lot of about 30 quality used cars available.

“We want to be able to have something for everybody,” Anthony said. “The biggest thing for us (is that) I want to be able to provide options for anybody who comes on the lot, but more importantly, I want to give them options as far as financing as well.”

Anthony explained that whereas a lot of used car dealers will refuse customers for having poor credit, Tristate uses in-house financing to provide financial options that work for them. “There is no question in my mind that I will be able to help anybody who comes on the lot with whatever their needs are,” he said.

Tristate is not your everyday used car lot, Anthony explained. The cars they acquire to sell are top-notch automobiles. In fact, the vehicles go through inspections at two different garages before being put on the lot – one in Ohio and one in West Virginia.

“For that extra peace-of-mind (for our customers), we have (the cars) run through a service garage that we have contracted out, in addition to a West Virginia service garage that will inspect them,” Anthony said.

This extra diligence by Tristate enables buyers from all over the Valley to be confident that the vehicle they purchase is a quality automobile. For West Virginian customers, they can be assured that any vehicle they buy from Tristate will come with a new inspection sticker which adheres to their state’s requirements. All the the vehicles come with various warranty options as well. “We stand behind what we sell,” Anthony said.

All of the cars at Tristate are clean, one-owner vehicles that come with a full Carfax report and were purchased through auctions. “We do our due diligence before we even go to the auction,” Anthony said. “We’ll spend hours beforehand making sure that the vehicles have clean Carfaxes. We go up beforehand to walk around and inspect them to make sure that they’re clean and that – as much as we can – there’s no issues with the vehicles. So we do put a lot of time and effort into what we put on our lot.

“We buy carefully so that we can provide good prices to our customers,” he said. “We want to be able to have good, quality vehicles that we feel good about, that I would have no problem putting my family in. I would have no problem putting my son into (one of our cars) to go to Pittsburgh for a game or something.”

Tristate Auto Group is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Sundays are by appointment only. Tristate can be reached by calling (740) 633-8897.
